Geology

Short characteristics of the site: A vertical section across the topmost Peruc-Korycany Formation sandstones and the Bílá hora Formation marlstones of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin in a partly flooded multi-level quarry near the underground Anna Mine. The Březina deposit exploited refractory claystones until 1980s. A glauconite- phosphate horizon lies at the base of the Bílá hora Fm. Beds of ferruginous sandstones. Springs of iron- and sulphur-rich water from the Peruc Member. Finds of big Turonian ammonites were reported from the near Prokop Mine.
